Stir Fry Beef With Orange


Lean quick-fry steak – 450g (1lb) cut into strips
Dark soy sauce – 1 tbsp
Marmite – 1 or 2 tsp
Orange – Zest of 1 plus the juice of half
Cornflour – 1 tsp
Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
Red chilli – 1 tsp ready chopped (or to taste)
Vegetables (e.g. carrot, courgette, mange tout, red pepper, baby corn) – 150g cut into sticks
Rice or noodles – 300g cooked to serve



Step One  Place the beef in a bowl together with the soy sauce, Marmite, orange and cornflour

Step Two  Mix well and leave to marinade for about 30 minutes

Step Three  Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan until hot

Step Four  Lift the beef from the marinade, reserving the liquid and add to the pan with the chilli and vegetables

Step Five  Stir fry for 6-8 minutes until the meat browns and is cooked

Step Six  Add any left over marinade and heat through

Step Seven  Serve with the rice or noodles
